Game Masters are like all-seeing, all-knowing deities. They closely watch your team's progress from a hidden control room with video surveillance. They know the rooms inside out.
When they inquire if you need a clue, it probably means you're off track and might exceed your 60-minute limit! The best advice is to take the clue to have a much better experience.
You should be "street smart"
Sometimes, a little common sense is all you need to overcome certain challenges in the Escape Game. Including a traditionally "smart" team member is beneficial, but it's easy to miss an apparent and simple puzzle solution. Overthinking is a common challenge for escape players. Although the rooms are meant to be challenging, remember that an average person should finish within 60 minutes.
You will get frustrated too!
A common misconception is that Escape Room game masters are akin to the evil puppeteer Jigsaw from the SAW film franchise. That couldn't be further from the truth! The game masters support your success and feel frustrated when they witness your group making silly mistakes!
Resetting the room is a pain...
After welcoming, briefing, and guiding the players, the game masters face the task of resetting the rooms. Involving room restoration, exchanging clues and hidden objects, relocking locks, cleaning, tidying, and preserving the room's untouched ambiance. Though time-consuming, this is a vital step after every successful playthrough.
They could do it blindfolded too
It is the task of a game master to know the rooms inside and out. They know every nook and cranny and could really receive a 10-minute limit to complete one of their escape rooms.
Listen closely to their introduction and briefing. Their insights, filled with context-based hints and tips, will aid your escape. Their title of "masters" is certainly not without reason!
